IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING NOTES CAREFULLY IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A RESCUE DOG OR NEED TO FIND A HOME FOR ONE:

As a Club, are occasionally asked to help owners rehome their Golden Retriever. This can happen for a number a reasons, including changes in domestic or family circumstances, bereavement, the arrival of a new baby, or sometimes they are just too much of a handful for their owners. The dogs can vary in age from young puppies to the older dog in their twilight years but all need love where they will be cared for in their new ‘forever home’.
We realise it can be very distressing to give up a dog and we try and make the process as painless as possible, matching them to the right owner – with the dog going straight to their new home rather than a stay in kennels.
We do our best to thoroughly assess each dog for temperament and health before rehoming but please note we are unable to accept dogs with some specific behavioural issues including resource guarding and some incidences of biting. In this instance, we will do our best to help suggest rescue organisations who may be able to help.
We do our utmost to vet new owners too. If you are interested in adopting a Golden Retriever, please complete our rescue questionnaire. Please note that in order to be GDPR compliant and to protect your personal data, we will only keep your questionnaire for 2 years from the date of receiving it. If you haven’t heard from us within this time and are still interested in a rescue dog, it will be necessary to reapply.
Finally, it’s important to note that rescuing a dog is all about giving them a second chance in life. We do not run rescue kennels with multiple dogs awaiting homes – we rehome dogs if and when an owner surrenders their dog to us. Therefore, it is difficult to respond to requests which state, for example “I would like a bitch, preferably under the age of 4 which is dark in colour and good with children”. Rescue dogs don’t come to order – so please be prepared to be patient and flexible!
